I’ve been having some Entrepreneurial fun establishing a brand with my wife for her new Psychiatry practice, Harden Health. She’s been toying with the idea of opening her own practice for a while now, and as of mid May, she officially launched her business. I love branding and used my graphic design skills to create her logo and brand collateral (business cards, letterhead, etc…), and this weekend we hung the sign in her lobby.
Vinyl sign making can be lots of fun, if you have the right tools, like the R-Series vinyl plotter I got for doing office decor at my company last year. You also need some graphic design experience with a vector program like Adobe Illustrator. If you don’t have that stuff, you can order great signs at a decent price in most local cities. But in case you are just curious as to how vinyl signs work, below is a series of photos showing how each color of a vinyl sign gets plotted, “weeded”, and transferred to an acrylic sheet using a little bit of soapy water and a squeegee. If you are into DIY, this can be tons of fun. I bought the acrylic sheet online at eStreet Plastics, the brushed metal mounting hardware on amazon, the vinyl on Swing Design, and did the sign on my home PC, dining room table, and garage saw horses.
I placed a couple teaser images in this image, but frankly, LinkedIn is not friendly with uploading large numbers of images (one. by one. by one. snoooooooze…). The full set is here: https://www.facebook.com/christopheralanharden/media_set?set=a.10161656215715696&type=3&uploaded=22
Have you done any vinyl signs yourself? Tell me below.
Happy vinyling!
